Opening and closing the depot, running the day today requirements alongside my manager. Ensuring the health and safety requirements of staff and customers is of the highest level. Making sure everyone is okay and wages are input on the system. Selling goods and looking for new business opportunity's, growing our business is key to our success. Improving the customers journey through excellent customer service and building on relationships with regular customers is and will continue to be my main focus.
Since I started my journey on this course I have developed professionally and personally. The changes start from the ground up and have really made an impact on the way I approach everything, this has had a massive impact on me and my team. From managing projects effectively to dealing with changes and motivating my team. I am for more efficient and effective in everything that I do and undertake and I now have the confidence to try anything.
At first I was a bit dubious and wasn't sure "if this was me" but the more we delved into it the more I wanted to learn and absorb. My trainers were second to none and really helped push the key points home, this alongside my mentor are what really made it a wholly enjoyable experience. I now recommend this course to anyone and everyone who is up for the challenge and I am currently pushing my staff through this programme.
The course was very well structured for me and It all seemed to flow into one. Everything fell into place and came together all at once it seems, there was obviously massive upheaval due to Covid but the trainers and mentors were well ahead of the game. They made calls and emails, organised online learning and changed things where required, the most important thing was you could always call or email your mentor for an update and they would let you know if there where any changes.
Travis Perkins have supported me the whole way throughout the process, from giving me time off to go to the course and providing all the required literature and support. I actually fell behind initially on my course due to unforeseen circumstances and they helped me make up the time by letting me take afternoons off in the office and network with people.
As stated before the Team where fantastic and provided support the whole way through. The passion and desire from everyone to see me succeed was infectious and really helped to drive me forward. Especially my trainer and mentor who always supported me and provided a learning plan and targets. This helped me set smart goals and targets to work towards and proved for a rewarding learning experience.
The feed back from my managers and team has been really positive and the changes to the way I work are evident in the progress of my career. I now have the tools at my disposal to deal with anything that comes my way and the confidence to ask where I don't. I now know my strengths and weaknesses and where I need help but most importantly to me Identifying where others might need help and how to provide it to them and meet their needs.
Yes there are plenty of activities but due to Covid restrictions they are currently not running.
Yes
Travis Perkins was never my long term career plan I came to them looking for work to pay my bills. This soon changed into a desire to push myself further as they offered training and support. I was offered more money by an external company but refused the offer as Travis Perkins have developed me and continue to develop me, this is more important to me. The family aspect of working for them is really important as well and I now have a job for life and I am striving to go as high up as I can.
Go for it, this company is more than "bricks and sticks" they care about everyone and everything. A lot of thought and time goes into everything they do, as industry leaders and being the biggest Merchant in the country, you will have access to a huge wealth of knowledge. Most of us come here for a stop gap and never leave, as the saying goes I now bleed green and gold.
