I am a Duty Manager at Iceland. My primary role is to manage the night team which is me and a few other staff working a stock delivery until 11pm to replenish the store. I have to do jobs like inventory, waste and reductions and cash office. I also have the occasional task of answering customers phone calls and helping them with their problems.
Since starting the programme I have learned a few new skills that come with my job role. These include checking pink sheet, handling petty cash and checking milk and bread deliveries.
I enjoy my programme as it gives me new opportunities that I wouldn’t have as just a Duty Manager. I get to learn new things from the business side of things like brand reputation as well as been given more learning opportunities at work
Well organised as there is monthly calls to discuss the recent module and what I’ve learned.
Since starting the programme my employer and other management have been pushing me to better my own performances as well as teaching me new things that I previously didn’t know
I get monthly calls where I can discuss the module and anything I may not have understood or want more details on. If I’m struggling with my work outside of the meeting I have the opportunity to call with any questions to support me
I feel the training helps me perform better as it gives me more knowledge on different ways of management and coaching my colleagues to gain better performances

Iceland is a good company to work for as you can work flexible hours and learn lots of new things. They also provide great opportunities for hard working people who want to progress
Working at Iceland is very hard work physically and mentally but when you work well and your team works well it can be very rewarding to look at your work after a good shift
