Currently acquiring knowledge of various types of work that are available at Leonardo UK and in general what goes into such work, such as Composite materials, Sheet Metal, Electronics, Principles of Aerodynamics, Health and Safety, Working efficiently and Effectively, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Aided Design, Business Improvement Techniques, Aircraft Materials and Airframe Construction, among other learning.
Yes absolutely. There is a wide variety of learning to be done in the first year so there is definitely something on here that you will not have had knowledge about before, and you are taught by experts that have had hands on experience with the subjects you are learning so they can pass on a lot of that experience on to you even if you have read about these subject beforehand.
It has been easy to make friends as you will be sharing the same classes all throughout the year and so it becomes easy to set up a good team dynamic, the company will be keeping you up-to-date on the happening within the company so you feel a part of it while learning, and with both practical and theory based lessons the work never becomes stagnant.
Well structured, the course is run by Yeovil College and so the lectures have been well thought out and have been run through for many years. It definitely feels like you progress at a steady pace from basic knowledge to more in-depth even as you physically create what you have done in theory.
We are kept in the loop on any news that happens within Leonardo UK, our Apprentice Manager is always just an e-mail away from any questions that you may have, with Yeovil College only a 5 minute drive away from the Leonardo UK site it is never a struggle to make your way in if needed.
Constant support, the lecturers are always open to answering questions even after lectures have finished.
Not only have I been learning about the theory and practical of the work that I need to carry out, but also how to work efficiently and effectively, work safely, and work better as a team.
There are extra curricular activities to be involved with, as we are going through the Covid Pandemic currently there has not been much chance to be involved with them.

Be honest and confident about yourself and your abilities. Research what the apprenticeship will entail and Attempt to get hands on experience where you can, failing that learn the theory behind the work.
