My role varies every 4 months as I move around different departments supporting them in which ever way they require. In each different department I get involved with multiple projects in which I often have a substantial role within. I also help out with general day to day work depending on the workload of the department I am currently in.
I have developed multiple skills such as; communicating in a professional manor, understanding of business culture, working efficiently within teams and also Excel and SAP skills.
I thoroughly enjoy this apprentiship due to the sheer amount of experience and opportunities that it offers to develop within a career path but also to gain a broad knowledge of each part of the organisation.
The apprenticeship programme in Leonardo is a well organised and competently structured. You will be exposed to many different functions and therefore expanding your knowledge within business, whilst also supporting your decision in which career path you would like to pursue.
I have continuous contact with my employer ( who is located in Human Resources) to discuss how I am progressing in the apprenticeship and also to discuss any issues or concerns I may have.
We are given dedicated days and calls with college to focus on our qualification (this also has a substantial link to work as many of our assigments revolve around what we are doing/ have participated in).
I believe that the work relating to our qualification helps with the understanding of the business as whole but does not support each specific role within the apprentiship.
Working for Leonardo includes many extra-curricular opportunities to get involved in. The main provider of this would be the internal small organistion (within Leonardo) named AWASA. With this you can get involved with many things such as; Charity raising, social nights out, Go Karting ect. (Obviously limited due to COVID-19 restrictions currently).
Yes
As there are so many opportunities that become avaliable within this organisation and also the sheer amount of experience that you gather whilst being employed as an apprentice at Leonardo. I have also substantially developed myself as a person whilst being employed there and improved all skills that surround it.
My advise to applying for Leonardo, would be to prepare for your interview by researching the orgaisation but also to be yourslelf and try your absolute best throughout the application process.
