  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in the engineering team supporting energy storage research mainly as a design engineer. The day to day can be extremely varied involving plenty of design and development work delivering the capabilities required to conduct the research happening in the wider team. Generally a mixture of design research, CAD, design for manufacture, and hands on build and testing along with time to learn.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Since we are the first year through the program there have been many changes along the way, often inspired by our own feedback. When changes happen it is clear as to the reasoning and they are normally well communicated by Dyson Institute staff. Most aspects of the degree provided by Warwick Manufacturing Group are often poorly communicated and planned.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Plenty, we have set up various societies and clubs since the start of the Dyson institute and there is always something going on. I have been involved with founding the ski club, surf club, wake-boarding club and adventure society which has been a great experience and not only for the enjoyment of the activities we organise but also the challenges involved with setting them up.
