My role as a Graduate Broker involves four main rotations across the Global Specialities part of Guy Carpenter, allowing me to gain exposure to the various business units such as Marine and Aviation. In addition, I will complete other smaller rotations over the two year training scheme in other aspects of the business such as claims and analytics.
As I have only started very recently, I am still in the initial learning stages - this involves undertaking a number of theory sessions to gain an understanding of the insurance and reinsurance markets.
So far I have thoroughly enjoyed my program as I have been able to meet various individuals from across the business.
The Apprenticeship program is very well structured with monthly 1:1 meetings with my program coach to assist with off the job learning and additional teaching.
Lots of support - we are allocated study days and work is flexible within reason to accommodate studying.
Lots of support - we have monthly 1:1 meetings to keep on schedule and deal with any potential issues, and they are accessible all times by phone or email.
I feel that it will definitely benefit me in the long term giving me a broader and higher level perspective and understanding of my role and how it fits into the organisation.
Yes there are numerous societies that you can join, and quarterly or monthly social events.
