I work in Partner Sales Excellence and my daily tasks include supporting Partner Sales Executives and managing opportunities through the CRM pipeline among others. I interact with many internal Microsoft staff regularly throughout every day. I interact with Microsoft partners usually on a daily basis also.
I have learnt many business and career skills whilst developing many existing skills such as: Communication, team work, management ect. I am also being trained on QA training courses such as - Communicating effectively, Principles of leadership management, Sales and influencing skills and fundamentals of project management among others.
I enjoy my work every day from every perspective. I have a great, supportive team and we all have a close relationship. The 'One Microsoft' culture is shown in every part of the organisation, everyone is happy to help and everyone wants you to succeed. The Microsoft Apprenticeship program exceeded my expectations hugely!
I feel very valued by Microsoft, my manager is very supportive and I am contributing to Microsoft more and more each day as I learn and develop. I have been countless opportunities to gain internal and external recognition by Microsoft and QA. I have also been able to get involved in stretch projects on an ongoing basis which is really helpful for my personal development.
The induction week was a great success to ease us into the world of Microsoft, the whole process of the apprenticeship has been well structured so far, including: Ongoing support Training Coursework Mentoring Team
I have received ongoing support from QA since I joined, specialised trainers have been provided for each course and Julie (QA assessor) is available to contact if we ever have any issues, questions or need to talk.
I receive plenty of support from my manager and mentor, I can talk to them at any time (as long as they are not busy) and they are more than happy to help. Support of every kind is extremely easy to access due to the 'One Microsoft' culture.
My salary is perfectly suitable for my costs as my sister also works at Microsoft so only pay petrol money rather than commuting via the train ect and I don't pay a huge amount of rent as I am 16 and living with my family.
There are a wealth of opportunities available in and outside of work. I took part in a huge Microsoft event called Future Decoded by helping at one of the booths and introducing customer speakers to large audiences.
Yes
Microsoft is the best opportunity I have been given to date. There is unlimited wealth of support is outstanding and everyone who works here wants you to succeed! The atmosphere and environment here is better than anywhere I have ever seen before, I would recommend Microsoft not only as an Apprenticeship but as a full time job also.
My number one tip is to be yourself, if you are not true to yourself throughout the application process and you get through, you will find it harder to fit in here. You should present yourself well- This means wearing smart clothes ect. It is good to have had a job (or something similar) beforehand as you can give examples of using skills in the workplace (e.g. team building / management). I would have liked to have been told how to balance a full time job and coursework effectively whilst having free time.
