Within my role as a Team Administrator for the National Workforce Transformation I carry out many administration tasks daily. Some key tasks include managing senior members of staff' diaries, organising and planning events and senior meetings, taking minutes at team meetings and high profile, fast paced meetings. Other important tasks include booking travel and accommodation around the country for colleagues to attend meetings/events, as well as organising files and communicating with stakeholder on colleagues behalf.
Throughout my apprenticeship I have developed many new skills which have helped me to develop within my role as an administrator. My level 3 business administration apprenticeship has been the key qualification to helping me develop my knowledge and skills for my administration role. I have attended many work shadowing opportunities within Health Education England which allowed me to pick up skills and knowledge from other colleagues as well as develop my knowledge on HEE.
I highly enjoy my work programme and the team in which I work within. Within HEE the culture is focused on a shared set of common values, which every employee within HEE demonstrates within their role. Having a shared set of common values allows all employees to treat each other equally, with dignity and with respect. My expectations of the company and my team are beyond what I expected. They are friendly, welcoming and very supportive.
The induction process to HEE was very professional and structured. I received an induction pack on arrival with lots of detail about HEE and my role within HEE, as well as attending a HEE corporate induction meeting held by the senior team and HR colleagues. I also had a range of one to one meetings with colleagues who I would be regularly working with and would help to further my knowledge on the organisation itself.
The support I have received throughout my role has been very welcoming and supportive. I have regular one to one meetings with my line manager in order to keep updated on work capacity, as well as other work matters. HR team send regular emails in order to offer support and their contact details are easily accessible to talk to someone if support was needed. There are also access to mentors in order to support progression.
During my apprenticeship I believe I received adequate support. My tutor did provide guidance throughout in order to meet the needs, however there was a lack of regular catch ups and face to face support. The tutor I worked with demonstrated a positive attitude towards the work I was completing. Overall, I did enjoy the apprenticeship, but the support could have been more thorough and there could have been more guidance through the gateway process.
The content of the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship has allowed me to developed the relevant knowledge and skills within my role as a Team Administrator. The tasks I carried out within the apprenticeship are similar and linked to the roles i carry out day to day. Key tasks such as learning relevant legislation and being able to act and work in a professional manner has developed my skills and allowed me to be successful in my role.
Within Health Education England we have a team called Blenheim Activity Team based in the Blenheim office which organise extra curricular activities for staff members within one of the HEE offices. Extra curricular events involve activities such as team lunches, bake off events, and sporting activities, which are successful in making colleagues all feel welcomed and valued. Outside of work I also teach young children acting and dancing lessons, which I would class as a personal extra curricular activity.
Yes
I would recommend Health Education England due to the values they stick by and the continuous efforts to make employees feel valued and appreciated. They also have a very welcoming induction process, where you are able to meet important colleagues who you will work with throughout your role and learn about the companies visions and values. The opportunities within HEE are also very good and you are able to move within the company easily, with benefits from the roles.
During the interview process for Health Education England I would ensure that you are knowledgeable on the visions and values of the company as these tend to come up as interview questions. The induction process is very thorough and welcoming, therefore I would begin to think beforehand about any questions you may have about your future at HEE or about the colleagues you will meet with in order to learn more about them, HEE or your role. You will have regular opportunities to visit offices and stakeholders all over the country and will attend regular meetings that require travelling.
