I work as a partner marketing executive within the Microsoft Partner Network. My team are responsible for creating events and marketing to the 25,000 partners in the UK. I am heavily involved in these and my day to day role includes planning events and supporting campaigns. I have a number of responsibilities within the team and feel that this has really helped me!
I am working towards an NVQ Level 3 in Business Management. I have also had the opportunity to take free MOS (Microsoft office specialist) exams and undertake a range of internal training courses. I have obviously developed massively on my personal skills.
I love my job! My team and manager are hugely supportive of me, they give me lots of responsibility and also aid me hugely in my personal career development plan/
We are all given the same responsibility as 'proper' employees and so feel high valued! Everyone is so eager to help and get involved in our development which is really refreshing and helpful.
Everything for our training and programme has been very well structured so far. We don't take too much time out of our job roles to do the training and we have access to the library at work which is amazing for help!
Our tutor is really helpful and available most of the time, she provides us with all the information that we need to complete the course and get the work done on time.
We receive plenty of support from Microsoft through or programme manager, the library and my personal manager. All have been really encouraging us to work to our hardest and supporting us to achieve this.
My salary easily covers my costs, another example of how Microsoft treats you like an adult.
YES! There are loads of volunteering opportunities to get involved in within Microsoft. I am currently involved in a stretch project making an internal app for employees. There are also sports teams, charity teams and stretch projects.
Yes
Microsoft has improved me as a person and my personal skills, we are given so much responsibility and this is hugely valuable. We are all treated as normal employees and not given the typical 'apprentice' roles! We all get along so well and the culture at Microsoft is so exciting!
Just be yourself - sounds cheesy but its true! Look at the resources available to you (beyourfutures blog). Microsoft love someone who has a story and its more about the personality rather than the grades (doesn't mean they don't count) so make sure you really explain what you do that makes YOU exciting and different from everyone else!
