My job is customer service focused with both trade and retail customers. I am also responsible for the day to day running of the branch/showroom. This involves stock ordering, pricing, key holder duties and ensuring the team is working towards company strategies and objectives.
I have learnt many new skills ranging from emotional intelligence, self awareness, corporate governance. Also learned how to carry out efficient and useful PDP's.
I really enjoyed learning new idea's and ways of working and to be able to put them to use in my day job and personal life.
It was well structured. Covid 19 hit about 5 months into my apprenticeship and the LEAP team at Travis Perkins were excellent in adapting to the situation to ensure learning could continue.
Overall support was good, although at times it was difficult to find the time to set aside for the course work.
I always felt that if I had any issues I could contact my mentor and she would be happy to help any way she could. I couldn't fault the level of support.
The qualification has helped me know more about myself and how I like to work, and identify how others work. It has allowed me to embrace the part of me that craves details, while also adapting to different situations.

If someone is interested in having a job that is hands on and customer focused then Travis Perkins is the right place to be. If you are willing to develop yourself then Travis Perkins can and is willing to help.
The best advice I can give is show you are open and willing to get into a conversation with colleagues and customers. This is the best way to learn, get to know your customers and develop strong relationships. Be adaptable and willing to work with changes.
