  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • When a a potential claim arises, the contractor will notify us of the damage, and we will circulate this incident to re-insurers and usually arrange for a loss adjuster to be appointed. On a daily basis I make sure that loss adjusters have all of the required documents from the client in order for them to investigate the claim. We regularly have meetings with a wide range of parties involved with the claim, such as Lawyers, Solicitors and Surveyors. I also work closely with our local WTW offices to ensure everyone involved has up to date information on the status of the claim. Once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted I will be going to visit the different construction sites with loss adjusters, claims handlers and the project team, to investigate the losses. I will be there to assist Insurance claims handler and client to reach a final decision on the indemnity that the client will receive.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My knowledge around Insurance has completely transformed! There are so many things I have learnt about Insurance that I would have never known without joining WTW. Studying for the CII examinations helps me to understand aspects of my daily work even more, which is also a great opportunity to learn more about the wider Insurance industry.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • This programme is the perfect balance between study and day to day work. Having 20% off the job study time gives you the chance to learn within your team, and from the various examinations. I have a great team who always have so much enthusiasm towards their job, and support me with anything I need help on. There are always opportunities to speak to colleagues outside of your business unit, and attend training webinars on various topics that you wouldn't necessarily know from your role.

  • Yes

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
  • Be yourself and try to relax in the interviews, they want to get to know you! Show your genuine passion towards the role and understand the company values well. Understand what makes WTW so different in comparison to other companies, and why the apprenticeship scheme would suit you well. There are many business units which could lie closely to your interests, for example if you like Art you could mention that the Fine Art department would be of interest to you. Explain how you like to learn. Do you prefer to work on Excel documents and programmes alone, or do you learn more by working on projects within a team?
