I will be spending time at a training centre in Thatcham where I will be learning to joint. this will be block training Monday-Friday. once I have completed this and has the clearance to do some joints and finished my first course I will then be going into the Melksham depot and go out to different work sites. when I go out to the different work sites I will be accompanied by my manager and will complete the joints I have authorisation to do and will take photo evidence that I can write up apon later.
Yes, Although I am yet to go into the training school where I am sure I will learn many knew skills in order to complete my qualification. I have learnt many new computer skills as well as skills interacting with people as this is my first proper job and the dynamic is very new to me. But SSE and the team they have put in place around me has let me learn the skills to interact and to effectively communicate with my peers and managers.
I am enjoying the programme very much. This is because I was previously in school and it was boring for me to be in a lesson where the teacher talked for a hour and then I take notes the whole time where work is a lot more interactive and there Is a lot more responsibility. I enjoy this aspect as it gives me more freedom to do things my way and to develop a learning technique that is relevant and works for me. I have not given it a 10/10 as I have not been to the training school and therefore have not had that experience but so far it has been very enjoyable
The introduction was very good and although slightly challenged due to covid-19 and it being fully online, I always knew what was happening and the use of teams (which I was already well versed in) helped a lot. I have not yet had any proper training but the support I have received has been amazing and this paired with the mentor system should give me everything I need to complete this apprenternship which I am very happy about. the tsak delegation has been good with nothing outstanding but nothing bad ether it was what I expteded which is good.
I receive a lot of support from them as I have a learner team manager who at the moment I cant email or message on teams and he will answer any queries I have (and does a lot) or he will point me in the direction of someone who can. The HR team have been good with sorting out paperwork at the start of my job. The general attitude with supporting me has been one of the best things about my job as there is a lot of people I can go to included my peers and my manager and others.
As of this moment I have not received any as I am due to go to the training provider in 4 days. but I have had a 2 week health and safety into course that was very good. it was well run and efficient although slightly boring in some parts I feel that is to be expected as health and safety isn't always fun and is hard to make it that way. We could
As I have Stated in the previous question I am unable to really say as I have not yet attended the course. I have started in January and I am due to attend in 4 days. From what I have been told this course will provide me with everything I will need to be able to do properly do my job (training wise) but if it actually does I am unable to say at this time.
As of right now there is nothing going on as of covid-19. the pandemic has caused a lot of disruption within the company's social side. I am aware that the college normally organises social events every week for team building and to let everyone have a break and socialise. As far as I am aware SSE does not provide any of these although this could be because of the pandemic and they normally do but because of this I am not aware.
Yes
Because I have heard from many different people who have started where I have or as different jobs and have built up and worked through the company as there are a lot of chance to grow not just as a person but in an job role as well. as well as this I have also seen a very positive environment and good work ethic that I think is better then a lot of other companies.
I would say that they should be themselves as they will know weather you are right for the job or not. But I would also say that you should do some research and be prepared as interviews are never easy and SSE is no different. I would also say the application process is quite challenging as there is a lot of competition for the job but that is because of how job the jobs is and how good it is to work for them.
