My role as a duty manger makes me responsible for keeping store is in a good working order. Day to day activities involve putting out stock, helping high numbers of customers and guiding colleagues. I also regularly cash up money at the tills and play a part in keeping the store neat and tidy.
I’ve leant lots of new skills such as cashing up the tills efficiently to make sure that all the money is organised and in the right place. I've also learnt a lot about stock inventory and am constantly working on my outwardness ensure that all customers feel satisfied with their shopping experience. I believe this attitude will help Iceland keep workforce and attract likeminded people.
I’m confident and happy in my level 2 program it has helped me develop a range of professional qualities.I hope that the qualification I receive will lead to more advanced opportunities within the retail industry.
The programme is well structured, I enjoy that you can do it at any time and any place. With my dyslexia I found the course to be very fitting to my needs, for example watching links and feeling comfortable to ask my tutor for help if needed.
My tutor is very helpful and gives me a lot of encouragement and help when needed.
At the moment with the current situation i can’t see my training provider however once a month we receive a 2 hour zoom call. I feel the support given to me is really good as my tutor is so friendly and helpful and if I’m struggling I know that I can always email or text for help without feeling embarrassed.
I’m working towards my qualification. My trainer is helping and supporting me, but so far I have found by working on my apprenticeship I am improving my customer service skills and learning more about retail.
Due to the current situation there are no social activities at the moment
Yes
I would recommend my friends to work at Iceland as it’s a good company to work for and there always room to progress and improve yourself to the company if you want to.
The advice I would give to other is be polite and friendly at all times. Work hard, be flexible, ask for help if needed. Also there is plenty of opportunities to further your career.
