My job role consists of booking vehicles in for services or defects depending on the issue with the vehicle or what the vehicle needs to stay compliant. I also answer the phones, check vehicles in and out as they come in and are returned to the end user. I contact fleet companies for authorisation to complete work on their vehicles as well as learning to put together estimates to send off to these fleet companies as to give them a better idea of costs and what will be done to the vehicle to require the hours of labor included in the price. I send customers emails to remind them that their vehicles are due inspections the week before they are due to let the customers know they will need to get into contact with us so that we can book them in. I make job cards for the vehicles I have booked in and also for those that have come into us through a DAFAID breakdown. I also answer customers emails and send through documents at their request that they may not have in their records. I give customers updates on the progress of their vehicles and keep them up to date with what is happening.
I have developed several skills such as confidence within the workplace. I have learnt how to approach customers in a polite and friendly way and to handle certain situations in a calm and collective manner. I have learnt how to use new computer programmes such as, Kerridge, AS400 and DAFcheck and TechShare. I have increased my knowledge of the different services that can be provided to the vehicles and gained some knowledge of the problems that can go wrong and how these can be rectified.
I have been enjoying my programme immensely, it has really brought me out of my shell and I have been eager to learn more and carry on developing throughout the programme. I am enjoying growing as a person within the role and learning about an industry which is essential in this day and age and being able to help even if its in the littlest way possible to help with the success of the company. I also enjoy my programme because of the people that I have met along the way and the values that they have taught me throughout the day to day routine.
My programme is extremely well organised and structured. I think this because of the fact that I have not been overloaded with work from the beginning. I have been given a number of tasks at a time which has helped me to stay on track as I have a deadline when they need to be completed so I can organise my time to ensure they are completed. With regards to the job aspect I have been taught new tasks at a rate that I can understand what I am being taught before I have learnt a new skill. This has helped me because by gaining a clear understanding of what I need to do to perform the task at hand before being shown another I can develop that skill and be confident in what it is I am doing.
I receive a significant amount of support from my employer. I think this because I feel comfortable being able to go to my managers, mentor and colleagues for assistance when I need it. I am taught what to do rather than being expected to know what it is that is needed of me. My employers general attitude towards supporting me is very supportive and understanding. I have been given time to understand the necessary tasks and have been helped a large amount by those around me in the business.
I receive a lot of support from my training provider as when I have completed an assignment or beginning one I will send it to my tutor and he will let me know if I am on the right track and areas to improve. This support allows me to make the necessary changes to my work to ensure it is to the best of my ability and shows my full potential. I also get support from my training provider by my tutor answering any questions I have and explaining specific tasks in more detail if I do not understand.
I think that my qualification helps me to perform better within my role as it helps me to understand the meaning behind the tasks I am doing as well as helping me gain a deeper understanding of the importance behind my approach to the customers and the quality of my work and the impacts that not performing to the best of my ability can have on the business as a whole. It is also helps me to understand the tasks required within my job role as I am completing assignments alongside my training that go into further details.
There are several different activities that I can get involved in at my work through the business itself as well as social events through the people I work alongside. For example as a business Motus Commercials offers activities such as mindfulness yoga and a podcast to help keep spirits raised during the current conditions due to Covid and to bring employees within the business together to support one another. With regards to the social events specific to Motus Commercials in Swindon several employees have made a team to do Tough Mudder should it still go ahead.
Yes
I would recommend Motus Commercials to a friend because in my opinion I think that it is a great company to work for. The reason as to why I think this is because as an organisation it goes above and beyond to satisfy its customers and offer the best possible service. This is reflected through the response given by customers when in business with the company as well as through the amount of customers that are returning customers. I would also recommend Motus Commercials because the employees all work together and help one another when necessary without any issues.
The advice that I would give to others applying to Motus Commercials would be that it is a great company to work for and they help to aid development in several areas but that it needs to be something that as an individual they are passionate about. The role in which they are applying for would need to be something that they want to pursue as the employees within the business are passionate about their work and the services they provide and I believe without this the company would not be the same environment to work in.
