The role I am employed in is a progression due to the new skills formally developed in studying towards the Apprenticeship Programme, the Business has supported my development professionally through the Scheme including additional training as required for software and processes, as well as peer support in reviewing work and developing skills.
The block release study provides meaningful and immersive time to develop academic knowledge, supplementing work based projects which allow application of this knowledge to develop skills. I have enjoyed both the academic study and work based application on interesting projects.
The University study is clearly published each year for unit selection, with regular 12 week reviews with mentor and business apprenticeship representatives to support progress through the scheme.
My employers provide me with the time to attend academic study modules at university, a mentor to support queries relating to apprenticeship, a training representative to review progress and resolve any queries relating to the scheme and have provided interesting projects to engage skills and knowledge.
The University have provided a point of contact for all pastoral issues, have an online system for accessing resources and tutors have been available to answer any questions during periods of study. An initial induction week provided all necessary details.
The units studied have been selected at directly improve my professional skills and I am satisfied that I have developed my role, abilities and Skills resulting from academic study into my vocational work.
My work has opportunities for extra curricular schemes for both apprentices and employees. I am particularly engaged in the Professional Membership of the IET, which my business supports for both membership and applications for registration.
