  • Combination of practical engineering training and college engineering course. Engine teardown/re-assembly, bench fitting metal work, welding, confined space training, elevated work training, electrical training and others. College course delivery through the web.

  • Bench fitting metal work, electrical fitting skills, engine teardown, developed mathematical knowledge and engineering physics understanding through college course.

  • Very enjoyable, like-minded and enthusiastic cohort. Content is varied and interesting.

  • Very well structured, many varied placements available. Plenty of time allocated for academic work.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Apprentice team always available to offer support on any issues. Plenty of frequent contact in relation to personal progression.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Plenty of time given for working towards academic qualifications, constant support provided and communication between BAE and college is frequent.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Variety of training will allow me to tackle multiple placements to find my ideal role and progress as I desire in the business. I feel well prepared for this.

  • As much as possible Covid-19 allowing. Outward-bound week planned once Covid-19 has passed.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Course content and placements are varied and interesting and allow for many careers following apprenticeship. Apprenticeship team are all very supportive and college course is very relevant to the business.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Learn as much as possible about the business' current activities and history. Demonstrate your interest in engineering with home projects and college/university projects.
