My role is to essentially provide support for any member of the School of Anthropology through email support or in person support depending on what the issue is. On a day to day basis it would include checking through the ticket system we have and seeing if there is any sort of support i can offer such has helping repair a printer or helping diagnose a laptop/PC
I have learnt a few skills. The main one being that i have improved my confidence in talking to new people as i used to always be quite shy when meeting new people and now i enjoy doing so. I have also matured as working in a place like Oxford you need to be very polite and well behaved.
I enjoy it very much as the university look after me very well and offer me a lot of help and assistance in a variety of things and with Basingstoke ITEC they helped me alot with assisting with my coursework which i have now completed and have got it all signed off. But it has been a great learning curve for me to understand how the real world of work works.
It was very well structured and it was all online so it was very easy to find all the work i needed to do. The person from Basingstoke who helped me was very good at explaining what i needed to do and structuring exactly what units needed to be done when and how.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. The School of Anthropology have many different ways of support which i like a lot as it makes me feel included and part of the team. My manager is very supportive as well as the HR team as they can help you with many issues you may have in the workplace.
I received a lot of support when completing my qualifications as i always felt like there was someone there to ask for help if i needed it. I had a zoom meeting around every 2 weeks to catch up on my progress and make sure i was doing everything i needed to on time. I also enjoyed the work i had to do for my units which made it better.
I feel like it has made me learn things that I would then implement into my work life. Some of the things i have had to research for my assignments have actually helped me in understanding some IT related things at work
There are some extra-currcular activities i could get involved in such some IT events. I have been to a couple however due to the pandemic I have not attended any activities for a long time.
Yes
As they are a great employer and look after you very well especially during these tough times. I always feel like i have someone to talk to about any type of issue i may have with work life or even personal life. They are very welcoming and allow you to get used to the environment of the University very well and not rush you into it.
Just be well mannered and polite and make sure to be confident in your interview and then I am sure you will be a strongly considered candidate and if you get the job/apprenticeship not too feel worried as they will look after you and make you feel welcomed no matter what part of the University you work in.
