Daily tasks include issuing payment notices, assessing compensation events, issuing final accounts, drafting contracts and working with the project team in order to deliver programmes of work. Also have involvement in charity work and helping new starters to become familiar to the business. Main responsibilities are to complete the work set out by the managing surveyor and to ensure I keep up to date with all of the relevant reports I produce. This is across all of the projects I work on, which is around 5 different schemes
Massively improved my excel skills as well as the use of more specialist client softwares. I have had a lot of internal and external training and have also been able to improve on my presentation skills and interpersonal communication. Currently completing my degree in Quantity surveying whilst working towards the completion of a chartership through the business. Have learnt about effective management of a team and also about how you can become an effective leader as well
I really enjoy my role and wouldn't change anything about it, the work I do is varied and enjoyable. There is plenty of room for progression and the opportunity to move onto different projects. The company culture is great and you get the impression that they really value you as an employee. All of my expectations were exceeded when I first joined the business. Team I work within is really supportive and friendly as well which makes the whole experience even better
Really well organised programme which provided adequate training, support and mentoring where required. I have regular catch-ups with my education provider as well as employer to ensure I am happy with my progress. There is a good balance between my study and work and I always have time to complete my study. The induction I received when starting at the business was really good and It gave me a good opportunity to meet the team and have an information discussion with people.
I receive a great amount of support from my employer, whether this be through my mentor, manager or the HR team. Any time I've had an issue or concern, they have been able to resolve it in a professional way. There is also a great amount of guidance at all levels of the business which is good. There is also a great deal of resources both online and in person which can be used.
My training provider has always been very supportive towards my needs and has a genuine interest in seeing me do well on my programme. I have always felt that they provided strong support and have always been there should I have any queries or issues. I enjoy the study I do and feel as though they have really helped me work towards my professional qualifications which I am looking to complete. They also keep my employer well informed as well.
I feel as though I can often apply the information I've learnt at university directly to my day to day role. My qualification has given me a greater depth of knowledge about the industry and also my field of knowledge. Even the general interpersonal skills I've learnt at university can be applied to my role as a quantity surveyor. I would say that some of my degree hasn't always been directly relevant to my day role however.
Yes, there are a number of extra-curricular events I help out or take part in, these include social events, presentations, networking and charity events. There are so many options in the business to get stuck into these type of events and theres a massive support network for undertaking this type of work. There are also a number of sports clubs which staff can be involved in. Some offices even have lunchtime activities which staff can take part in.
Yes
I often recommend the business to friends. Working for Mott's has always been a pleasure and it makes it seems as though work is not a chore but something I look forward to each day. They really care about their staff and look after them. If you're willing to put in the work they will fully support you in achieving your goals. They also care a lot about you as a person and always ensure your wellbeing is considered.
Although it sounds clique, always be yourself and just try and highlight all of the great things you do. The interview process for me was really pleasant and I didn't feel pressured or nervous.
