  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Day to day I work across different clean water projects, mainly borehole projects. I do CAD drawings and once a week do water monitoring at one of the sites. A lot of what I do includes working with project leads to get the design drawn and therefore can often be calling lots of people during the week to discuss designs, which is helping with working from home in isolation a lot at the minute.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to use different software including CAD, Civils3D and Revit. I also have improved my use of other software like Word and Excel. One main skill has been my presentation/communication skills; whether it is through email, meetings or even drawings, I have improved on how to express my ideas, relay information and communicate with my team, clients and other people in the company.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Mott MacDonald have been very supportive and well structured when it comes to my apprenticeship and learning needs. As I am on a training agreement, I have quarterly reviews with my designated engineer as well as regular less formal check ups through out the year. I have fortnightly catch ups with my line manager to discuss and identify any learning needs or just a general catch up.

I have regular catch ups with my team and line manager one to ones to ensure I am on track and happy with what I am doing.
