Whilst in FA&R - Reporting the company's financial statement figures for specific entities. - Completing revaluations - Creating / Posting journals - Uploading figures from one system to another - Clearing validations - Processing information and collating - Analysing figures - Answering audit requests There have been training courses on Year-End and Interim reporting within my team as well as training courses to the wider team for IFRS accounts Currently completed Level 4 AAT during my time at the company.
- Developed my problem solving and analytical skills. Determination to figure out what is causing certain errors/validations and pursuit of solution. - Improved my communication skills, both verbally (telephone calls with the wider business and talks within the immediate team) and written (both informal and formal emails) - I have learnt a lot about the workings within the business and how my study relates to my job role, as well as professional skills such as teamwork.
Lots to learn, very interesting work. Although there are consistent tasks, there is always something new to work on and get involved in. A very supportive team which you can rely on to either ask questions or talk to. Study takes place one day a week so can work this around my workload. I enjoy the work, sometimes the hours worked can be long and tiring, but it has improved my knowledge of accounting.
Good induction delivered in both placements I have been in so far. With lots of training prior to completing tasks by myself, and they are well explained, with support provided if I ever have any questions. Studying I can fit around my workload on day release, however it has taken a while to move onto CIMA (still not enrolled) which has made study very difficult.
Lots of support from my manager and also approachability if I ever have any questions. Not a lot of contact from the HR Team or anyone outside of my own placement team - not too aware of the support that there is.
At the start of AAT, I felt there was a lot of support if needed, and the process seemed fairly smooth. However, in regards to enrolling onto CIMA / finishing AAT with my portfolio, the process has been awful. Almost a year to get my portfolio sent off and no contact in regards to my EPA call regarding the portfolio. As I want to move onto CIMA, I am disappointed with the slowness of this.
Definitely improved my knowledge of the accounting systems, especially working within FA&R, as a lot of crossover takes place, regarding B/S and I/S along with IFRS standards etc. Which means that I am able to put my knowledge into practice within the workplace. I feel I have a better in-depth knowledge of the tasks and process that I complete from my qualification.
I have got involved in team sports activities previously. Along with the annual Christmas dinner and any social events e.g. leaving drinks with colleagues.
Yes
The placements that I have worked in so far have been so supportive and lovely to work with. The workload and tasks that I complete have been very interesting. The company provides support where need and the opportunities available after the apprenticeship are large. The apprenticeship itself is very beneficial and although there have been issues regarding moving onto the next stage, it has definitely helped me move towards where I want to be.
Lots of research about the company. Go to information days where they tell you all about the apprenticeship and the company. Do background research about the history of Rolls-Royce Persistency - if you want to work for the company, do all that you can to answer the application questions to the best of your ability, prepare for the interview and if needs be ring to see if a decision has been made.
