I am an associate (flying start 2). My daily taks involve carrying out different audit proceudres such as planning and testing different aspects of finanacial statements and interacting with the client. I have regular interactions with my audit team as i sit with them throughout the day and interact when the client when its necessary. Recently I have been responsible for the audit of 4 small subsidaries within the company I am working on.
At university we have been doing our ICAEW professional exams, working for PwC really helps us to use and improve the skills we learnt from doing these exams. Most of my work is computer based so my developing my excel skills has been a large part of my placement.
I find the company culture and working in an audit team enjoyable. The teams between jobs change which is refreshing as it allows you to work with a large variety of people and within different industrys.
There is an great feedback system in PwC where your team will say both your strengths and areas you can improve. There are many oppurtunities to get involved with different areas of the company.
I feel the degree programme is very well structured. There is an excellent support system both at university from our lecturers and personal tutors and at PwC from our people managers and the flying start network within the office. I feel doing professional exams before placement really benefits us, especially financial accounting as this is the basis for most of the work that we do. The team hierachy in the audit teams is well thought out as there is a great support structure.
The university keeps regular contact.
There is a good support team in the company. I have regular contact and meetings with my people manager and buddy and we are all in social groups in the office which have their own support networks within.
Living in London can be expensive, especially transport so often our salary doesn't go as far as hoped. However our salary will be adjusted for London rates when we join full time which will be good.
PwC offers many events and oppurtunies outside of work hours such as language classes, pub quizes and socials, unfortunately during busy season it is often hard to find time for these. Flying start social events are organised regularly which are always enjoyable,
