My role is a Finance Business Partner which involves assisting the business with financial insight and analysis to assist with strategic decision making. We also have a key role in the planning and forecasting cycles.
I'm constantly learning and developing in my role. Given the ever changing work environment there are always new challenges we face and this is the way I learn the most.
I enjoy my role and also the opportunity in RSA to rotate across multiple roles in the organisation to gain a good understanding of all the different roles and functions in Finance.
Our programme has been well structured with yearly rotations into different roles, but is also flexible enough to ensure everyone is able to look at roles they are interested in and will benefit their development the most.
In terms of support at work, I receive plenty - everyone is happy to help and will support you through your development. We are also entitled to study days to help with exam commitments.
Kaplan provide support both through classes and also through a 6 weekly talent coach catch up call. This just helps to ensure we are on track with our qualification and prepared for the end point assessments.
The knowledge I have obtained throughout my ACCA qualification has been integral in my development so far. However, there are many other areas which I have developed outside of the qualification, such as communication, leadership and proactiveness, which is just as important.
There were often networking events and social activities, whether they were formal social activities or just a group leaving the office to go for a drink after a Friday at work. There was a very inclusive culture at RSA so it was easy to fit in and I enjoyed getting involved in different teams both in and out of work. (*pre Covid)
Yes
The inclusive culture, the people, the opportunities, the business is interesting. It has really helped me develop over the past 2 and a half years.
Be yourself, and show the best you. It's not all about what you know - especially as an apprentice, as long as you show you are flexible, adaptable and willing to learn then you will be given the time to develop and show your true potential.
