It is a very socially interactive job which has helped me improve my confidence in speaking. There is a variety of maintenance (Electrical, Mechanical and Fluid Power) to be completed within the factory that covers the criteria of my course. I am continuously given small projects by my manager and I have had opportunities to help with business improvements.
I have learnt how to use different tools that help with machine maintenance. I have learnt how to complete risk assessments. I have developed my confidence. I have developed my knowledge of electrical drawings and how to find new jobs on the companies system.
I enjoy my program a lot.
It is structured well. I have a group review every week for support. I work one day at home just to focus on my course. I am given a wide range of training both via the course and through my placement manager. My program had a few hiccups but with the reviews they are resolved.
My manager and his staff always ask me how I am doing. My ADL (Apprentice Development Leader) supports me with issues I may have and keeps me on track to complete my apprenticeship in a timely fashion.
My assessor is very good at looking at work and sending it back in a short space of time. Gives me pointers and shows me my progress. We have a review every six weeks to see if I am on track. I do enjoy it.
The qualification is very good as it covers the areas in which my placement takes place. I have put the theory into practice. I definitely feel that I know more from completing my qualification.
There are many STEM events available however due to Covid 19, that has not been possible.
