  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a team leader at the coop, which mean on a day to day I have the responsibility of running shifts, managing a team normally up to 5 people on shift. Handling cash, recently had smart cash installed, so training staff up on how to use this correctly. Working stock, stock rotation, date code app. Training new and existing staff up. Receiving deliveries. Recently inroling on CHORT 6 in leadership.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Recently involved in a degree apprenticeship in leadership where I am hoping to learn lots of new transferable skills that I can use in everyday life, with my team, to make myself a better leader and help other leaders self-aware.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Learning and gaining new opportunities. Networking with other colleagues from the company who I may not have got the opportunity to meet.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well structured especially with covid 19 going on too, they have really adapted. Well done everyone. Angela Ruskin University!!

  • So much and it helps when there are others on the programme to reach out to who have experienced it too.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Everything so far has been really great. Cannot fault the support.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that it will really help me reach my end goals within the company and make me become a better leader.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At the minute with covid we are alittle restricted but I'm sure when its lifted there will be activities in place that can help support. However there are team events that we are currently doing in our area that can help on leadership- leads fest and another leadership programme, so I am going to rate this experience 10 still.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because they really look after you. they are all about the community. the ethics they stand for. They are one of the few company's that tackle what matters. I am so proud to say I work for the Coop.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Co-op?
  • Research the history of the coop, read up of the founders. Be yourself, always! Don't be afraid to ask questions.
