In my role I am a duty shift manager and team leader, organising my team and delegating the tasks we need to complete. I also develop staff and train them to better their knowledge. As a team leader I ensure I am a positive role model, that makes work enjoyable and inclusive to everyone
Since working at coop I have developed my previous skills of customer service, leadership and management. All my previous experience was from the hospitality industry, so I have had to utilise my knowledge in a different way and learn new skills for the retail industry
I really enjoy learning and have previously achieved a college qualification and highest degree in hospitality. So I have been able to utilise my knowledge to use it for the retail industry. I have also gained new knowledge on laws and legislations, and new ways to manage a team
The programme is very well structured, but it is difficult to fit it in around a busy work life. Saying that I have received a lot of help and support from my tutors and line manager
I receive a lot of help and support as my manager is keen to see me grow as a person and achieve my goals
I receive really great support with regular meetings to discuss my progression and where I could use the extra help. My tutor will always give advice on where to find information, how to implement this into my workplace. She has also offered mental health support throughout
It has given me a lot more confidence to perform my job and how to manage it well
We have many social networking events throughout the year and conferences
Yes
Great supportive company that is very economical, supportive with mental health and willing to help you progress and grow in the industry
To be open minded to learn a new way of learning. A positive attitude goes a long way, and you have to be able to socialise well with customers and colleagues
