  • Operating the Pilot Plant, manufacturing intermediates and API.

  • I have learnt and developed a range of skills including: presentation skills, SHE and GMP awareness, LEAN manufacturing, academic skills and teamwork.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme more than expected. The team and company are great to work with/for and the work is enjoyable whilst challenging me to develop and perform to the best of my abilities.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well organised with thorough training and induction processes, mentors and support readily available, and a good structure to how to programme is set out over the 5 years.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive plenty of support from my manager and my mentor. I am able to access support easily from both my team and people in the wider organisation. Other employees are happy and willing to support me and offer guidance with any issues I have.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The distance learning students receive strong support from some lecturers and the course directors but other lectures aren't as good at responding to queries from the students.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The majority of the content of my course is applicable to aspects of my role. Other topics are applicable to roles in different departments, which I have to opportunity to learn more about. Working towards my qualification definitely compliments and supports my learning in the workplace.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are plenty of events department, site and company wide which provide a good level of social interaction. The events vary in type, from quizzes to volunteering days to more formal events, and are all as enjoyable as each other.

  • Yes

  • AstraZeneca is a great company to work for as they provide a supportive environment to allow you to complete your qualification whilst developing professionally.

  • Be confident in your abilities and what you have achieved so far. There are a wide range of apprenticeship programmes available at AstraZeneca so your strengths will match at least one scheme.
