I am a customer assistant so i do my normally duties of serving, restocking shelves, back stock. But, with doing this apprentice i look into other roles as well. From working in bakery, dealing with deliveries, doing reductions. You get an all round knowledge of retail.
I did not have any prior experience of working in retail. So i have developed both my skill and understanding under retail and what it entails.
I have really enjoyed this programme even though it had to be postponed due to Covid for a little. Not only do you do things in store. You do a lot of it online and they sometimes do things where you have to travel to an event for the apprentice programme.
The babcock team are really supporting and help you a lot if you are having problems with completing work or with work related issues. there is even a plan which they show at the beginning which gives you an insight to what is going to happen.
They have helped with changing shifts when needed so i could attend it. It could of been better but under the circumstances of last year and with in work on my behalf and others it has been difficult. But, at the beginning when everything was normal they where very helpful.
I have received a lot of support from my trainer. i have learning difficulties they have the time and the patience with me for times when i may not understand. they have also supported me with the some issues i have had at work and they have been very understanding with personal issues. there is always someone you can go to for help.
From doing this programme it has confirmed that i am able to do my job role and more. this has given me a better understanding than my basic training from work would off.
A part from meeting up with some off the colleagues outside of work for a drink. there isnt really anything provided. But, over the last year there wasn't anything we could do due to lockdown. so, there might be in the future.
Yes
They are very friendly and supportive and i enjoy working there.
Go for it and if something doesn't work out there is always someone you can talk to help. Plus, co op have a work benefits too with discounts and rewards.
