  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • When I first started I was paired with someone who would talk you through the job but wouldn't let you do anything hands on. Since I have stopped working with that person and getting a feel for my own tools I have learnt a lot, I had no previous experience in this trade.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • As I am an older student due to me having to do a traineeship before the apprenticeship, I do not enjoy going to college. This is because I find it hard to soak in information. Other than college I enjoy coming to work and learning new things, I also get on with everyone so it helps.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As for learning new things by being chucked In the deepend I cannot fault the programme, however they should be more structure on apprentice mentors as people are not sure on who they are meant to be paired with. As for the college and skillnet side of the programme I think it works well.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Again as for being an older student I can't thank the company enough for giving me a chance to see how I would get on in the trade. If I ever have any problems in the workshop or at home I feel like there are numerous people I can sit down with and get help if needed.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I think skillnet are a good training provider. Although after visits instead of writing and signing paper for our visits and what to do next, personally I would like a next steps email so you can remember what went on in the previous visit. Again if I had any problems I would not hesitate to ask [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] for any help.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It helps me perform better in my role because the training provider try to push you to do the best job you can to the best of your ability by making sure you are on track by recording job evidence and having certain tests you need to do before each college block.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not through work, although a few people at work started our own 5 a side football team so that was good for the social side as it gave us something to chat about other than work which is good. There are a few colleagues that are a same age so will message each other outside of work.
