Within my role I will carry out property surveys for a number of reasons, such as to survey the site for dilapidations purposes, to survey where a proposed extension or demolition is set to occur or to survey the heritage elements of a site. I will manage projects, create technical drawings and generate detailed report for all works until completed.
I have learnt a vast array of architectural design skills, as well as how to appropriately generate reports. I have learnt about a variance of legal matters that link to the property industry also.
Under COVID-19 circumstances, the role has differed incredibly and so it is difficult to accurately answer this question. When there are obvious opportunities infront of you the programme is exciting and enjoyable, however with restrictions and a lack of contact it becomes harder to visualise those opportunities. This does not reflect the companies attitude, simply the times we live in.
There are a lot of elements that go in to managing the apprentices in my company. When tasks involve all apprentices then typically everything will be in good order and organised, however when things break down in to teams or offices there are differences, simply due to the people involved and the lack of generalisation between apprentices.
I receive a fantastic amount of support from my employer. If I need to express how I feel about something then I can do so and I have options of who to tell. I trust each individual with confidentiality in certain matters and I know that any actions they then take are done in my best interest.
My training provider provides regular seminars and then also regular phone-based catch ups to discuss progress and queries.
There are certainly pats of my qualification that crosses ibn to the workplace, however there are also differences. After some time it becomes almost obvious as to why there are differences, but the courses will help with work and work with help with the courses.
When not in a COVID-19 world there are various extra curricular activities within the company. Due to the size of the company some events have to take place in London, which for some is a considerable evening commute, but in my opinion almost an enjoyable thing to leave the office and head to London to do something enjoyable. I personally took part in the football and rugby initiatives, also the social events.

Savills is a fantastic company with great morals and anyone who desires to work in the industry should certainly not ignore them.
Be your honest self, no one at Savills wants to work with someone who isn't acting natural. People care about people here, not just your ability to work and learn. Be prepared to work hard and do your research, but prepare to also enjoy everything you do.
