I am employed as General Manager at The Turnpike Bristol, one of the Sizzling Pubs. My responsibility is to look after every aspect of the business (such as inventory, staff, money, profit and loss, recruitment, training etc.). I am also involved in staff training and looking after booking system for every pub in our district.
Yes, since I have started working for Mitchell’s and Butlers I have developed my skills achieved in college (back in Poland) where I have learned how to be a chef and bartender. I have also learned new skills such as recruitment, dealing with difficult situations and I have been trained how to look after our booking system.
I enjoy my apprenticeship programme very much because it give me opportunity to learn new skills and develop ones I already achieved. My Regional Trainer is very knowledgeable so thanks to him I have widened my knowledge. Discussions with him gave me more experience in line with speaking with people I may not know very well.
I think programme is structured very well, because apart of basic information you can wider your knowledge by digging deeper and by speaking with Regional Trainer. I also think that BKSB programme, to achieve good results in math and English, is very well organised because it is giving you opportunity to learn in your own peace and you can have webinars if you have any problems.
Mitchell’s and Butlers giving me as much support as I need, starting from hours needed to complete my programme and finishing on giving loads informations through our systems and knowledge of our colleagues. Lorraine from RSC is always very helpful to answer all the questions and book Team Members who want to join apprenticeship programme.
I receive all I could ask for. Regular meetings or phone calls with my Regional trainer (meetings prior to lockdown), programme learning system, BKSB system and online lessons to help me prepare to take my maths and English exams. And what’s the most important for me a sometimes needed push from my Regional Trainer when I loose drive (it happened couple times during lockdown).
I think that training provided through Lifetime already helped me achieve more than I have ever imagined. After couple months in programme I have widened my knowledge (and showed how to use it) enough for me to get promotion from Assistant Manager to General Manager. Programme helped me a lot. Starting from SMART goals which I’m on a good route to achieve them all.
There is a lot going on in Mitchell’s and Butlers. Company looking after us the best as they can. They organising for us brand competitions, team nights out. What is the most important for me and my team Mitchell’s and Butlers looking after our well-being now during lockdown. Brands organised for us online competition for Sizzling Pet Mascot and we all walked with Strava to go around all our brand pubs.
Yes
The best company I have ever worked for. Guest and employee orientated. I can always count on help hand either from my Regional Business Manager, Retail Support Centre or from my colleagues. We are all one big family and I would recommend Mitchell’s and Buttler as the best company to work for.
Be patient, engaged, show what you want to achieve. Have your SMART goals. Everyone in this company will help you to get where you want to be. You can be like me start as Assistant Manager and in less than a year become General Manager - obviously it will happen when you show that you want to progress and when you actually work hard for it ! Good luck !!
