My role is to keep the network running. There are so many different tasks you could get given, I love this as no day is the same. For example you could be installing a new router at a customer site, diagnosing a fault at a data center or simple maintenance tasks like replacing fans and filters, building connectors or running in new fiber's.
I have learned a lot about the how how data is transmitted cross the internet. I new very little about this before this job and you learn so much everyday. This has crossed into my IT skills and helped me develop those.
I really enjoy the program, it is very well set up and gives you a look into all aspects of the job. Very well paid, college is in block release which I personally think is better and the jobs are hands on everyday. All the engineers are nice and have the patience to teach you. Even in challenging covid times they have done a great job (with PPE and social distancing) at getting us apprentices out on site to assist with jobs.
Very well organized and structured.
A lot of support with everything, I am given the jobs I need for college work, there is always someone available if I need help and in general my team is really encouraging.
Lots of support, plenty of resources and the lecturers are always available to email for guidance.
Very well, learning the theory side increases my confidence and helps me understand my role better.
Not at the moment due to covid
