Trainee managment consultant - within my rotation on the programme, my team supports partners and directors who are bidding to clients for work. Therefore, I am responsible for certain parts of the bid - for example I might be responsible for completing all the relevant Risk and Quality processes which are required. This responsibility has only come to me with experience and learning these processes. Every day varies depending on what needs doing for the bid we are working on.
We are working towards a Level 4 diploma and certificate in Management Consultancy. We have lots of internal courses (elearns) which we have access to and can complete. In addition, working in this environment I have both developed new and existing professional skills such as communication skills.
I enjoy working at PwC because I am part of a very good team, who are supportive and inclusive. In addition, the apprenticeship programme team are all lovely. The company culture is also very welcoming and friendly which makes for a positive environment. I do not feel as though I can comment on expectations as I didn't really know what to expect when joining PwC.
I feel valued as a member of my team, by the two managers and the director in my team. In addition, my people manager helps me to feel valued. When I have been invloved in bid with people outside of my project they have often explicitly told me how helpful I have been and the value I have added to their work.
I believe the programme is well structured, we had a fairly brief induction. On reflection, the induction could have been longer as in comparison to the Graduate programme it is extremely short. Our training is done by an outside body and I haven't had a long enough experience with them to comment, however so far it has been well structured. We are given 2 hours per week 'protected' where we can complete our work for the programme. We have a lot of support from our programme leavers, and from our people managers and buddys from an above intake.
Cannot comment as we haven't started college.
My managers within my role are very supportive, as is my people manager, mentor and programme leads. I haven't had much experience with our HR team.
As I do not live inside London, a lot of my salary goes towards travel. I then having living costs / daily food costs on top of that. I am not left with a great deal after I have paid my bills. If I wanted to move into London I would be able to manage but it would be tight. I do have enough at the moment to cover my social costs, but I do have to budget and be careful with my money.
There are many company events which go on, for example a marathon. There are also language lessons we can attend.
Yes
Because it is a great environment, great programme, great opportunity.
Make sure you take your time when filling out the application process. Do maximum research for your interview as for consulting this is one of the most important parts of your process where they can see who you really are and assess if you would be good for the role or not. For the assesment days, make sure you prepare.
