  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I check people into the hotel providing the best for our guests, do daily cleaning jobs such as washing, drying and ironing, ensure security checks around hotel are completed. Ensure hotel is quiet and safe. Do computer work to ensure everything is checked and done to correct standards every day

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have found with my apprenticeship it has given me much more confidence working on reception. It showed me all the stuff im meant to do and more. I wasnt much confident with issues with guests, now i know how to handle them professionally. I have learn how to become more of a supervisor in my role

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Ive enjoyed learning from mylife documents as they are very informative. I enjoyed the support i got from my tutor. Even though lockdown is currently happening, i still got through my apprenticeship without struggle. I enjoyed the other app where i can daily/weekly update how im getting on to log it

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It has all the information i needed and more. I like it has reading and videos to make it more interesting. The work wasnt hard to learn and was very quick getting through it. I was set deadlines to ensure my work was completed so i didnt have the worry about falling behind

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer was always asking how I’m getting on and giving me support through the apprenticeship when i ever needed it. She had also done the apprenticeship so if i was struggling, she would give me rough ways around it if i was. She was always able to give me my days off ready for my apprenticeship calls

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider was always messaging me to see how i am and how im getting on with my apprenticeship work. She would sent me other links to help me if i was stuck with any of the work. She always gave me good feedback to how i was doing and where i could improve

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have briefly covered this at the work place on some areas of my apprenticeship, but through it i have learnt in more details making me more confident in my job role. Learning new things through my training provider has made me enjoy my work place at all more too

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We are provided with a first aid course which allows us to perform first aid freely in the case of emergencies. Once a year, we have a competition on who’s the best hotels in our area. We also get the emergency chair evacuation training which was really fun to learn

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Whitbread which is premier inn or restaurants support you the whole way through working with them. They provide you with everything you need, checklists on how to do all the jobs they provide for. We have a brillant online course for training for the job which is updated all the time.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread?
  • They like for an employee to be flexible with their working hours. The computer work can be a brain fryer at times so its good to have good computer work. You need to have great customer service skills as providing for our guests is so so so important to us
