  • Hotel receptionist - Nights. Job involves safety and security. Complete handover with outgoing and incoming staff. Making sure hotel is safe, checking in remaining guests, cleaning surfaces. Preparing documents for incoming shift. Completing financial day. Setting up housekeeping documents for the day. Competing walkarounds every hour to make sure hotel is quiet and safe

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I learned to be more confident and comfortable around people. Learned to listen and be more compassionate with guests and team members. Every person is different and not every situation requires the same approach. I feel more developed as a person to deal with issues outside work as well. Making progress

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It was eye opening and really made me more aware of what my industry represents.i enjoyed interacting with the trainer and was surprised of how informative the trainer was and how willing to help she was. I enjoyed the tasks and challenges that were really engaging and how honest the trainer was.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Program is very well suited for my needs. It covers all types of topics and it is very easily understood. It keeps me motivated and it challenges me to improve myself. It keeps the learning fun and enjoyable. I'm quite happy with how the programme is structured. Very detailed

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer provided me with great amount of support throughout the whole apprenticeship. They kept asking me if anything was needed to help me progress or if I had any questions that I might struggled with. My manager was excellent, and all my colleagues were there for me too. I'm very happy with the support

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My trainer was supporting me throughout the apprenticeship with everything I needed. They provided me with learning materials, online classes in English and maths. Also was in constant contact to make sure I was supported. She kept in touch via email, text or WhatsApp even throughout the pandemic she made sure I was supported

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It helps me at work and outside work too. The training provides various scenarios that I might encounter. I learned more about the business side of the hotel and other business. It goes to show that we can always learn something new regardless of how much experience we may have.
