I am a chef , I love food and I love cooking . My role involves preparing , cooking and serving food that meets our brand standards and also make people feel loved and happy when they eat it. My role also involves keeping a high food hygiene standard rate in our work environment, so our customers know that we are serious about their safety in every possible way.
I have, absolutely yes. I have been working on my leadership skills and also on gaining confidence to do what is expected of me on my job role. I have been taking charge of some shifts and learning about all the insights of the company as well while doing what I love the most.
I love this programe, I love how much I have learned and getting some knowledge refreshed as well. It is amazing not only to be able to practice and work in this area but also have the right skills and knowledge to progress in my career as a senior chef.
I did not have much luck at the beginning as there were some changes going on with the programme and how it used to be. Then we had Covid coming along, but I think they have dealt well with everything and I have a very supportive trainer who has always been there for me and has made my experience much more enjoyable. However, having the workshops and access to the academy in person would have a super practical and valuable way of learning too, in my own opinion.
My employers have always been very supportive since the beginning of my apprenticeship. They have offered their help and knowledge to anything that I might need help with. My kitchen manager has helped me with tasks where I felt stuck by offering his support and knowledge. I am very thankful for that.
My trainer has been absolutely amazing. An angel sent from heaven. Since the beginning of the pandemic things become so much harder and 2020 was a very challenging year for so many of us. She is always available if I need help and support. Her support has meant so much to me while working towards my qualification.
It helps me by giving me a better understanding of my job role. Such as things that might not be involved on my day to day job tasks. Having that understanding makes me a better professional and also makes me feel more confident to perform what is expected of me at my work place.
There used to be more events involved in our work place. Lots of fun events and as well as fundraising events. Special occasions themed events, unfortunately everything has been put on hold because of the pandemic. But we are all hopeful that we will be able to get back to it again in no time.
