  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My title is house keeper, however due to being on the apprenticeship I have been moved to front of house night shifts to further my training. A typical shift for me involves checking guests into the hotel, doing hourly floor walks to check the saftey of the hotel and cleaning reception to the covid standards.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have greatly developed my people skills by being on reception. The variety of guests you face in the roll make you adapt you language to appear professional to different audiences. I've learnt the use of the hotels computer systems and how to generate house keeping boards for the most optimised work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I'm very much enjoying my program. Learning new ways to present myself to my team and guests in order to inspire confidence has been wonderfully eye opening. I've enjoyed the freedom of being able to do my work when I have the time too and the close contact point with my trainer has allowed me to easily ask any questions I've had.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is structured in a brilliant way that touches on the key points of being a supervisor then elaborates them further with working examples and methods to put in place at work. The month by month call with my trainer is brilliant as well as we discus the knowledge of the previous topic and make sure that information has been retained.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer. I was higher as a house keep on the prospects that I showed potential and 2 months later I was already on the apprenticeship and doing front of house shifts. They have been accommodating with regards my shift work and have given me important days off to do exams and take calls.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have a direct message chain to my training provider. This allows for so much support right at my finger tips, any time I have been stuck on a peice of work or a general question about the apprenticeship they have gotten back to me within 24 hours. This direct line has helped me to feel more comfortable to make mistakes as I know there is always a person to ask and there are no dumb questions.
