My job role is the fabrication and welding of steel, this involves ensuring parts are within a degree of dimensional accuracy, and have all of the relevant fittings and modifications made to the material
I have learned proper care and use of a MIG welding plant and Oxy fuel cutting equipment along with many other skills, I have also been developing understanding of engineering drawings and how to obtain dimensional accuracy when fabricating
I enjoy learning and developing my skills at work mostly over the college work
There are some aspects of the course that are well structured, for the most part college can be organised at times however sometimes there can be abit too much going on at once
We receive adequate support from our employers in the workplace, they can be helpful when aiding development of skills in the workplace
As of recently we have been getting more support from work in regards to getting paperwork and practical done, however i do feel that we could be provided with additional support in places
Some of the units we are doing at college are helpful in the workplace, however the way jobs are carried out in the workshop are alot different to most of the things we learn at college
there are some extra curricular activities that can be done in the workplace however they may not appeal to everyone
