Day to day my role entails aligning with stakeholders in the digital teams, ie, developers, delivery managers, release teams, ensuring that everyone is up to date on what is happening with the testing. I also assist in getting high priority defects fixed, so that we can unblock our testing. Day to day is a lots of calls with test teams as well as the other stakeholders.
Yes, I have been developing my project management skills as well as skills to do with test, learning about the backend systems behind the websites and apps and how they are all connected. I have also severely improved my networking skills, not only inside vodafone but also with the large number of suppliers that the business works closely with.
The programme is great, it allows me to work within a great team, in a great department in a FTSE 100 that has global reach, allowing for many opportunities I wouldn't get somewhere else. Everyone across the business that you interactive with is always keen to help out, and share their knowledge with you.
Week to week it is very well structured, because of covid, all workshops are now from home, learning on a call. These are half a day, once a week. The other half of the day is still dedicated to your learning, so i often use this time to catch up on notes, or working on my assignments. Vodafone ensure that you always get you one day a week of off the job learning, but this can also be split across the week, to fit with your schedule.
We receive a lot of support internally, day to day, you will have your line manager, mentor, business point of contact, as well as the apprenticeship team in HR. Due to this, any questions, queries, doubt you have can be quickly resolved with a few messages.
For the whole course you will have a tutor, qa call them a skills coach, as well as this you will also have your module teachers, as well as the academy of excellence team to support you. Between these three points of contact, you are able to get as much, or as little support as you need in order to exceed.
There are some modules in my course which aren't linked to my role very much, but the vast majority of the modules either directly or indirectly linked to my day to day role and responsibility. This means that I am able to take my learnings from the lessons and implement this into my own activities.
Yes, Vodafone's community is huge, with loads of different groups you can join. The company as a whole often holds large department days. The company also has things such as the vodafone foundation which people can get involved with, helping aid people less fortunate than ourselves.
Yes
Due to the size of the business, and its global reach, as a business it is great to work for, loads of opportunities, amazing campuses, good salary and bonuses, often receiving extra cash bonuses for exceeding in your role day to day. The job is also fast paced, meaning no days are the same.
Research the company and it's history, as well as our beliefs. A lot of the company's culture is based upon the spirit of vodafone, so it is important that you embody these things. Go in with an open mind, as anything can happen, and if you end up in a role that you don't like, you are able to move around.
