Placing and recieving food orders. Stock rotation. Daily kitchen checks and daily cleaning. Cooking, plating and quality checking food. Serving drinks and providing table service to tables that require or ask for it. Opening and closing down both the bar and kitchen when it is required. Working with the team to give great service.
I have learnt how to prep different foods from fresh and also gotten better with my knife skills meaning that i can now comfortably work with knifes and different meats or fish with questioning whether what i am doing it correct or not. I have also learnt that asking for help is not a bad thing and that reviews are the best thing to help progress.
I love the programme, if it wasnt for this programme i would have never gained the skills that i needed to progress as a chef. I would never have been able to learn different techniques or approachs to serve and cook different food types. Also my knowledge of different foods has been increased dramatically from what i orginally new about different foods.
Everything i have experienced with the programme has been excellent everything is well planned and advanced notice is always given about when the sessions are going to be and also if they are needed to be rearranged. All the sessions give you enough time in-between to be able to work on all the other learning materials that ate on offer to you.
I recieve loads of support from my employer and he has always made sure i was able to attend the sessions that i needed to. He also asked me to talk to others within the business about the apprenticeships that are on offer and how they have benefitted me and helped me to progress more within the business.
I recieved loads of support from both my lifetime training and the trainers that where teaching the masterclasses. They also have the time to talk to us and answer any questions that we need answering, also giving us extra support when creating the dishes and giving us feedback on what should be different for next time.
It has helped me in my role at the business by giving me more confidence to do my job but also how to approach different food types and problems that may arise on shifts. I have also been able to support and show different staff members how to do different things when it is needed.
There are also of things available to us for extracurricular activities like the webinars that are available at different times and days so that it can work best for us. We do team nights out regularly so that the team can relax and learn more about one another. We also have the MABster chef which is where you can submit any dish that you create to be cooked at the general managers pride awards.
Yes
Because there are so many courses available for all different work and knowledge abilities. The support system that is in place is amazing and the knowledge and lessons that are given to us are something you couldnt experience anywhere else, i have learnt so much over the last year that i dont think i could get anywhere else.
Take advantage of everything that is on offered because the activities and lessons that are available would match and even beat anything that you could get anywhere else. They also work around your work and other commitments that you have and make sure that the apprenticeships work around you and give you the best experience possible.
