I've started that apprenticeship with Lifetime Training as a receptionist in the company Premier Inn because I was offered the chance to enroll. We are hotels selling cheap rooms for quiet nights. This apprenticeship allows me to go deeper in training my skills, I'm tested regularly to see wether I've understood what I've studied or not. The plateform we are given to work on is very easy to use and we have strong support with a Lifetime trainer at our disposal in case of doubt.
We are already provided with training within Premier Inn. The apprenticeship pushes further in every theme aborded with my initial training. If things were clear before, they become crystal clear and if something was enigmatic because you never really came across it in your day to day job, the documents and modules we have allow you to get more experience so you can get ready to face the unknown. We also have all the forms "appendix" easy to print and fill if it's a particular subject such as Prevent Policy or Safeguarding.
I enjoy this programme simply because it gives me assurance, confidence and knowledge. Once you know the rules in details it's easier to apply them, having more confidence also shows the guests we know what we're talking about and all that training pays off in the long run.
Every month I have task to complete, wether it's some research I've to do myself or some modules to complete with assessments at the end to test your knwoledge. You also have at your disposal a journal where you can update you day to day activities, if you've learnt anything or came across issues.
Very good support, my manager and assistant manager are both regularly checking up on me, asking me how my apprenticeship is going. They've both done it in the past, one more recently than the other so it's still very fresh in their mind and they'd be willing to help me if I were struggling.
Excellent support as well, it's easy to contact her when I have questions, I've never had issues and I was able to complete every task allocated in time so far. The apprenticeship isn't taking much time, it's something I encourage anyone who gets the opportunity, it can be done on the side and you do it to better yourself so you don't need a coach pushing you non stop.
Since it gives me more confidence and better understanding of the hotel's policies and why they are in place it helps a lot. My job is getting easier because I know what to do and why I'm doing it the right way. With any job comes responsabilities and there is a way to do things properly.
There used to be, events where a site would gather for one evening per year and spend time together. Obviously nowadays this can no longer happen but I'm confident it will comeback in the future. There has never been anything about sports teams I'm afraid nor professional networking events.
Yes
There are three types of shifts : Morning, Day and Night. I'm working night shifts but out of curiosity I've done mornings and days. It's a great company giving you many opportunities no matter who you are. You'll need a serious motivation to learn everything there is to know as a receptionist.
Make a good impression, physical, verbal, be yourself Premier Inn is a very tolerent place where anyone can fit in. Show that you want to learn and progress and you can work you way up instead of staying at the same job role all your life. There are many jobs in Premier Inn, chef, receptionist, house keeping, etc...
