My role is to make sure that the entire team know their set job on shift and help to support them through it whilst maintaining company standards throughout the shift. This includes checking people in, opening, serving and closing of the bar/restaurant and dealing with any issues that guests might have.
Yes, I have developed my skills in dealing with a more diverse client base, making sure everyone is happy all the while learning how to support and train the rest of the staff around me to reach new heights whilst not falling behind on any of their assigned work during any shift.
Through the programme I have gotten to have a deeper look into how a large company/brand operates with all its ins and outs that most people dont get to see or even know exist. This lets me understand a lot of the decisions the company makes a lot more easily.
The programme is very well organised. It is structrured by topic and each one is broken into smaler and more deailed ones, each leading to an activity to help you solidify what you have learned in said topic all the while finsihing at a multiple joice assesment to help you see any points you may need to revise.
I recieve all the support I need from both my Deputy hotel manager and the hotem manager himself. They are willing to change shifts and schedule shifts around study days/time and are more than happy to show me and explain anything I dont understand that involves the business itself.
The support from my training provider is invaluable, the personal tutar assigned is contactable both rhough email or direct phone call at any point to help me through any issues involding the course itself that may arise and make sure I have enough time between each meeting to finish everything whilst not feeling rushed.
Through this qualification I feel that by knowing the ins and outs of the business I work for a lot better and udnerstanding any desicions they may take I can perform much better in my role no matter how difficult or busy a shift may be that day all the while helping fellow staff.
Pre-COVID out site along with 2 others used to organise a football match up twice a month to help us learn better teamwork all the while spend time with each other outside of work in a more relaxed enviroment to get to know each other better, making it easier to work well toegther on shift.
Yes
The company is very fair and run by people who have worked their way up and know where each staff member is coming from. Hard work and dedication is acknowledged and rewarded through your time at the company, giving you loads of chances to advance in your career whilst learning new things along the way.
You will most likely need to start at the bottom even with prior experience as their system is different than most other hotels but all the staff are very friendly and helpful. No matter how busy it is you could always count on your team members to help you through any tough situation that might arise through a shift.
