Managing the shift in general and the team, floating around different area of the business, like for exemple check in time, breakfast service, dinner service. Apart from that, as a manager I do some work in regards to the business as well, like forecasting rooms sold, the amount of staff needed and the adjustment of staff clock in and out.
Yes, definitely. I have learnt many skills within the business, like forecasting the rooms sold, the quantity of staff needed, as well as developing existing skills such as managing the different areas during the shift, managing the team and specially having to deal with difficult and unexpected situations that may occur.
I do enjoy the my programme big time, as it gives me confidence, knowledge and preparation to deal with the many areas and situations that working with hospitality in a day do day basis could bring. In fact, it has happened already, for instance, having to deal with time kind of business or situation that I’ve seen before from my programme.
I do think that the systems could be all united into a single one. As you study in one system and when you need to do your activities and post them, you are going to need to use a different portal to update the evidences that you did. Apart from that I would say it is very well structured.
My employer support me by always be willing to cooperate whenever I have a call meeting from my programme or any other type of commitment, it will be as flexible as possible, allowing me to change some shifts time every now and then. My employer is also interested in having updates from me regaining the programme.
My training provider supports me in a really good way. First of all because she is so patient and friendly. She is also very flexible, always willing to help me whenever I can not attend a phone call, having to reschedule it. She is always willing to explain and to make it very clear any topic studied that might have not being very understood.
I feel that my qualification helps me to perform better in my role from learning the concept of everything that I have to do within the business, so when I get to actually do some bits of the role, the subject regarding it has already been seen trough the programme and the training provider.
Yes, there are extra curricular activities such as specific training, like first aid training, or how to evacuate a disable guest using an evac - chair. There are also social activists related to charity, volunteer services to help raising money for hospitals. There is also a network event that happens once per year and the managers are allowed to take 2 staff per hotel to attend it.
Yes
Because it is the better option for money value. It has a very friendly staff team, with very comfortable rooms, great service within the different type of service offered, like Breakfast and Dinner. Also because the hotel chain offers the good night guarantee so even if you could not have had a good night’s sleep, you could have your money back.
Be prepared to start working in a great environment, where you are going to learn everything that you need to become a confident and professional staff, giving you the chance to start a career and to progress to different roles. This could also give you a chance to do an apprenticeship programme.
