My role as a ground floor member is to maintain brand standards, from checking guest in to checking rooms after housekeepers have cleaned. I serve guests at breakfast, deal with requests, complaints and compliments in person or on the telephone. I set up work sheets for house keepers and delegate them their daily jobs. I audit cleaned rooms to ensure they meet our brand standard ready for our guests to check in.
I have only been in a ground floor team member role for a short time before that I was head housekeeper so I have had to learn alot of new skills for this role. This includes tech, using the computer systems, breakfast service and dealing face to face with guests.
I am enjoying my programme as it has already taught me I need to slow down and pay attention to what's going on, especially when on the computer and to read properly what's on the screen in front of me and not rush through to get things done.
It's very well organised, especially after speaking to my tutor on Microsoft teams and joining the online introduction class and seeing how straightforward it is. Having each module easy to access and being able to just follow them through at my own pace is great and also having the links to portal and bskb is really useful.
I receive as much as I need, my manager asks everytime I see him how I am getting on, and encourages me to have a go at new skills. I have a very supportive team who are always happy to help and show me how to complete tasks I am unsure of.
I know my provider is always there to help, I have many means of how to contact my tutor such as email, WhatsApp, text and through portal. She has answered all questions I've had and settled all queries and concerns I've come up with. I feel very supported.
I feel my qualification will help me perform better in my role by giving me a better understanding of policy and procedures in my workplace. I will learn more about best practice behaviour when dealing with guests and the importance of remaining professional when dealing with complaints. It will help me improve my confidence and be more self aware.
We have done in the past but Unfortunately due to covid we haven't been able to partake in any extra curricular activities, we have planned a sponsored walk for later in the year for all the team to be involved in and maybe an evening out later in the year.

I would recommend Premier Inn to a friend because you can guarantee good service, you know exactly what to expect because of brand standards. There's always a comfortable bed, good quality bedding and towels. Premier breakfast is hard to beat with full hot buffet, continental breakfast and free refill drinks. I enjoy working at Premier Inn and I enjoy staying at Premier Inn.
Tips and advice I would give to anyone applying to Premier Inn are to have an open mind, whatever department you apply for you will learn things you never knew and be prepared to meet lots of new and interesting people, this includes colleagues and guests, no two days are ever the same, its hard work at times but it's fun.
