  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Checking guests in and dealing with their queries. Doing room checks after the housekeepers have cleaned to make sure the rooms are under the brand standard and clean for the guest. Tidying of areas. Checking card not present transactions and that they match correctly. Also allocating rooms for the housekeepers for the day

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my apprenticeship as my trainer is very supportive with any questions I have. The way [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is gives me motivation and makes me enjoy doing my programme, we are able to laugh and joke as she has been in a similar role in premier inn so is very understanding

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very organised. Every month set tasks are due. My trainer will go through what I need to do to achieve each section to enable me to be able to continue the next section. Also online maths and English classes are available for me to take which [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] organises for me

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I do not receive much support from my hotel manager currently as she recently started her role as hotel manager and is doing her level 4 qualification with lifetime training however if I asked any questions or have any concerns she is able to point me in the right direction.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive so much support from my trainer and she will always go above and beyond to help me with any questions at any time of the day and not just during our meetings once a month. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] also arranges my maths and English classes online to be able to get me through my tests.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel this will help me perform better in my role as I am receptionist however I do still need to be a leader and will often be the appointed person. The house keepers do follow my lead when set tasks I have given them are provided to them. I do not like conflict however and hoping the qualification helps with this

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Currently due to Covid we do not have any activities or team bonding events. However before Covid and before I started the team would arrange nights out to a restaurant. Also at Christmas the company would pay so much per head for the whole team to go for a meal and drinks

  • 9a. Would you recommend Whitbread to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • At premier inn my team have made me feel like a family member from my first day, they are all very friendly and I fit in well there. I would recommend friends I have gained in the travel industry to premier inn as a change as times are changing where people are travelling to the uk and not so much abroad.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread?
  • I would suggest then to be them selfs, be confident and take as much as they can in from their training but also not to worry when a new scenario arises as a lot of the experience comes from doing the job and cannot be taught in the initial training days.
