My role is the day to day running of my Hotel, making sure the hotel is ready for business. Making sure the staff are all ok and have all the support and equipment needed to succeed in their roles. Checking that all guests have had an enjoyable and safe stay.
Yes I have gained valuable experience which has built upon my previous experience and enabled myself to look at previous tasks with a fresh set of eyes and, sometimes, change the way I have approached a task, whether that be dealing with a problem from a guest or having to deal with finance policy.
Being able to broaden my education that has enabled me to be more confident in my role. It was enjoyable to guage myself as to where my knowledge stood, having to see what I know, what I have forgotten and where I needed to go. It was enjoyable to grow.
Do to the handover of Training associations at the start of my apprenticeship I found it very difficult to find a clear learning path. I felt that was discouraging but once that had been corrected then the experience was much better with the correct portals available for for myself to progress at my own pace x
I have had excellent support, not only from my company, but also from my Hotel Manager, who arranged cover when I needed the time to concentrate on certain aspects of my training. My team at the hotel were also extremely supportive by allowing me time too. They were all very encouraged for me to succeeded.
The support from Nicola was first class, she helped with the everyday learning with subtle guidance but would also be firm and fair when it was needed. I was given regular updates by email, telephone and message services. Any question was not to small or irrelevant and having Nicola there on the end of a phone was invaluable.
As I have explained previously the knowledge gained has given me a new perspective of my role and my responsibilities. It has also given me a new path of learning that will continue with further apprenticeships to enhance my knowledge base and give me an opportunity to progress even further in my chosen field.
We as a site have held a staff meal and night out every 2 months, this was a great way for the team to bond and also to air any grievances, unfortunately we have not been able to do this due to the current climate we are in. We also have teams groups for communication and daily updates.
Yes
It is a good company to work for with so many different jobs and roles on offer, from front of house to behind the scenes.these roles also have scope for further learning, whether that be in the form of an apprenticeship or support in their roles, either way there can be progression.
The best advice is to be yourself, whatever your levels of education and experience you may be at then being yourself will give you a great base to work from. If you have a passion for the industry we are in then this will stand you in good stead going forward.
