My role consists of making what is required on the drawing as well as occasionally welding joints up to 8mm. when I am not doing these jobs I am maintaining good housekeeping and helping with workshop maintenance such as making shadow-boards.
I have learnt many new skills that exist within my job role such as: Welding, gas torch burning, how to interpret drawings, inspecting work and communicating across the shop floor.
I greatly enjoy many aspects to my apprenticeship. It has helped my learn and develop new skills that relate to my job role as well as some that don't such as developing in maturity and responsibility.
The programme is very well structured and helpful as it shows an understanding of when I am ready to learn new skills and what skills i need to know before I learn other, more advanced, ones.
My employer helps me to understand my job and the tasks I have been given and is very helpful when I have questions.
I have a scheduled meetings online with my training provider once a week to go over my college work. They are also available whenever I need extra assistance.
This helps me perform better as it gives me a more in depth understanding of why I do certain tasks and skills in certain ways.
We have a football team.
