My role as an ocr analyst was to complete a number of daily controls to in an effective manner to ensure business needs are met. This includes the creation and issuance of reports, collateral document management and invoicing.
Having joined from school my skills were limited. I feel I have learnt a vast amount of skills including my communication skills as well as things such as email skills and different skills within various systems.
I enjoyed my programme very much. The job was very interesting and the business gave us a number of opportunities to meet new people in the business and complete a number of courses to learn more about the company and the financial services as a whole.
My programme was very well organised. We met monthly with the early careers team to learn some more about the business and on a day to day our managers ensured we had enough work and support.
The business gave me a lot of support. We had a buddy system in place so we had a separate connection in the business to go to for support as well as bi weekly meetings with our line manager.
When working towards our qualification the provider would meet us monthly and set goals to work towards for the month. They also kept in touch and were always available to provide support if required.
Through learning a qualification it taught me the fundamentals of the way to work within the business and as a whole had a direct affect on my day to day work.
There are a number of social groups at my company. Team events were relatively common where possible as well as wider social groups such as Balance network which was all about equality in the work place. Or the YPDM for the younger people in the business.
Yes
Standard life aberdeen has been brilliant for me as it developed my skills further as well as providing me with a stable job. The qualification was a bonus as well as it helped me further my skills in the services.
I would tell others to make sure to make the most of your time. Create a network for yourself and don’t be afraid to introduce yourself to learn more about the business as a whole. Use the time in the business to enhance your skills, make the most of it!
