To over see the running of reception, leading the teams from reception through to restaurant. Making sure the team are in the right place at the right time depending on the guest needs. Dealing with any complaints whilst making sure guests had a memorable stay. Completion of daily H&S documents, bar opening and close down. Breakfast set up and table service. Money handling, daily banking and general customer service.
I have developed existing skills with regards to customer service. I also feel as though I know how to better support other members of staff with training as I have a better understanding of the best way to speak with them. I feel more confident in myself when it comes to reception duties.
I have enjoyed doing the apprenticeship due to being able to do this within my own time either at work or at home, being a working mother with two young children it has had its challenges especially during the national lockdown but as I have been able to go at my own pace this really made things easier.
I found the programme to be well organised/structured and with having the Lifetime Training Portal really helped me to see what area I was working on. Also the My Life website was a fantastic help, everything was easy to find when I needed to find information regarding set modules.
I have received fantastic support from my managers and work colleagues. My Duty Manager would ask me regularly how I was managing and also showed support, they provided my Assessor with an observation as unfortunately we couldn’t do one with the lockdown. The Head Chef was also a fantastic help and helped me find information out for my Business Project with regarding to prices and went through information regarding stock. I couldn’t ask for a better team.
My training provider was really supportive and always happy to help me when he could. If I ever called or emailed him he would respond very quickly or would arrange a time for us to have a discussion. I found [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] very easy to talk to about my apprenticeship and very supportive.
I feel as though my qualification helps me perform a lot better within my role, the reason for this is because I’ve learnt how to talk and support my colleagues better. Also for the way I interact with guests, as with being the first point of contact for guests I want to make sure I make the best impression on behalf of the company.
I am not aware of any extra-curricular activities within the work place, but this is something I will be looking into as I think this would really benefit the team in order for us to work together stronger and more efficiently. It also gives us more of a chance to know more about each other.
Yes
Whitbread are a great company to work for as they show you support and help when it is needed. I think it is also fantastic that they will help people further their qualifications by paying for them to do apprenticeships which in turn helps them progress with their future career.
The best advice I could give would be for them to be themselves. Whitbread are really good company to work for and all the members of staff I’ve met in my time working for them have been really friendly. If you have questions don’t be afraid to ask them as whoever you speak to will let you know the answer or find it out for you.
