pricing jobs and entering into discussions with clients to negotiate prices. Handling orders and instructions and liaising with other departments in my company to ensure that projects are handed over and started correctly. Also to ensure that all work is meeting the British standards that our company works to ahieve.
I have always been good at communicating but this job has taught me how to communicate in different ways with different people and tailoring conversations to suit the person you are speaking to. Also my attention to detail has been developed a lot as previously I was reliant on others.
The programme is fantastic, learning about the workings of construction and working towards becoming a quantity surveyor is something that gives me new challenges every day and that I want to continue doing even beyond the programme. Work support me really well within my studies and with time that I need.
the programme is extremely well organised, doing this through a pandemic isn't easy but the structure of the online learning and the available resources are brilliant. At work we have a good structure in place for any help that is needed and I help organise workloads within my department.
My employer supports me really well, from time management to help with work. I know who I should contact if I have problems and my line manager is a massive support to me and all in our department. I feel that any issues no matter how big or small I can go to him.
The university support is fantastic too, most of the required documents are easily accessible and wherever I have had some confusion the lecturers have always helped me either through email or directly in class and have always made it clear that no matter how big or small they can help with our problems.
Learning about the more in depth side of construction and having a broader knowledge allows me to understand how a project on site will run when pricing the steel work elements. It also allows me to bring new ideas to the company from having a greater understanding of the industry.
We don't have any specific work activities but as a team we like to go to golf when the weather is okay and previously we have entered a basketball tournament. One thing we all like to do is raise money for charity and as a company we take part in a lot of fundraisers.
Yes

To be committed, driven and to be friendly, within this company it is important that we work hard and have a team ethic that we work together to achieve our common goal. Back yourself and sell yourself as the best version of you that you can be this is key.
