  • Housekeeper. To ensure rooms are clean to a high standard and prepared for customers, cleaning bathrooms, changing and making beds, hoovering and ensuring correct toiletries are in place. To ensure high standards are met to exceed customer expectations.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • New skills I’ve learnt are linen, coshh and how important it is for all departments in a hotel needs to have excellent communication with each other to meet customers needs and expectations. I am also learning reception to gain further skills which is developing my customer service.

  • I am enjoying my programme, it is giving my more knowledge and skill set to progress further within the company.

  • It is very organised and structured which is giving me a plan each month to complete and have full support in doing so

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has exceeded my expectations in giving me the support I need. They are going above and beyond in supporting me to achieve my goals. I am being trained on reception to help me with my course and giving me the experience I need.

  • As much support as I need, always there if I need them and providing me with extra revision guides to prepare me.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have a lot more understanding and hospitality and the way the company works. I have discovered different acts which are used e.g proprietor act and have a full understanding of different phrases and safety measures which are used.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have different social events throughout the year which we can attend e.g bowling and going out to restaurants.

  • Yes

  • Excellent company to work for with great potential to move forward in the company. Great training programmes and share schemes.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread?
  • Be polite and hardworking. Know which department you would like to work in and have knowledge of what you would like to achieve. Whitbread is an excellent company for progression.
